Minutes ago SIG SAUER officially launched the P385, a new pistol architecture that combines elements of the P320 and P365. Hence the moniker: P320 +P365 = P385.
Over the past few weeks there has been a great deal of conjecture online regarding this new pistol due to a couple of leaks. I first heard about development of new pistol over a year ago and handled prototypes during SHOT Show of what was by then, called the P385. Development has been going on for even longer.
To be very clear, the P320 isn’t going anywhere. It remains in production and in service with military and police around the world as well as millions in civilian hands. Likewise with the P365. In fact, SIG is launching new versions of both pistols this year.
The P385 is a new design with a new Fire Control Unit and SIG Trigger Block for what they promise is a smooth, clean trigger press. You’ll also note a very low bore axis and full ambi-controls. Optics ready, it has been paired with the new XRAY5 Advanced Red Dot Sight in these images. More on that later and there’s quite the story there.
The new FCU pairs with the MAGSTRAP grip module for fast easy customization both in grip length and hand size as well as the addition of ReActive grip texturing.
Additionally, it accepts P320 magazines which can also be used on the P211.
The P385 will debut in 9mm with five models: Two comped, Full, Carry, and Compact. All will be available in Black or Coyote Brown and with or without a manual safety.

Why does the MACH3D version, which seems to feature a removable comp, have a full-length 4-slot picatinny rail (which will stick out if the comp was removed) while the P385 Comp and Full Size models (whose long slide length is permanent) have the shorter 3-slot pic rail? Not that it’s a big deal, but make that make sense…
Why would you remove the comp?
So is this is with its trigger block the solution to the defective design spontaneous discharge problem that they say doesn’t exist?
It seems to only happen to a handful of people. When their firearms are examined they can never seem to replicate the alleged behavior. Seems odd, doesn’t it? Of what you believe is happening actually we’re, it would be a daily occurrence considering there are millions of P320s on the market.

I’ll be honest that the P385 looks nice, and so did the P320. But their refusal to address the issues and instead sue people and ignore issues caused by tolerance stacking from indian sintered metal parts and poor QC and poor design, combined with proven to overcharge countries claiming some models had extra QC and testing done when they didn’t, requiring customers to send entire guns back for basic parts replacement. I am done with Sig’s BS.
Like I said, the P385 looks nice, and it’s obviously been improved and is probably a great shooter similar to the P211. Still though, I might have liked OJ as a football player, or Kevin Spacey as an actor. Can’t get over what they’ve done though.
I’ll ask this question yet again…what’s this issue you bring up? Be VERY specific. Tell everyone what it is, and what is causing it. The people who keep claiming there’s something wrong have yet to identify any mechanical issue. That includes those who have sued SIG.
It’s amazing, here’s something new and people want to talk about an entirely different gun.
No matter how you slice it Sig is legitimately a bunch of a*holes for how they handled the situation. Coming from someone that has swapped every part to aftermarket he could. My 320 while it gives me almost complete anxiety to shoot or own. I do have one. But, I dang sure won’t be buying this platform. Even if you leave out the 320 drama has anyone noticed almost all the Sig weapons of recent have had disastrous part malfunctions? Even my precious 365 had its share of problems.

?Sig is the best firearms manufacturing company I’ve ever dealt with. Have you heard about some people shooting themselves? Of course you don’t have any evidence. You have a conspiracy theory about metal parts made in India. You think this company should admit that they did something wrong? Do you know somebody who’s died from this issue? I think everybody knows somebody who’s died from a P320 firing by itself, right? I mean, we have a ton of Special Forces guys pointing this P320 at their dick every day. But what do they know? You know better, right?
?With millions of P320s out there and zero casualties that I’ve heard of, it’s only those people who don’t understand statistics that make these types of claims. Did you know 10% of the population has an IQ so low that the military can’t find a job for them? I don’t think you should be the one installing parts on your P320, especially if it’s a part on the FCU. It’s extremely complex, and coming from a guy who thinks Sig Sauer should apologize for their poor manufacturing and safety issues, it seems strange that this is your second concern.
?Sig Sauer will accept a firearm with 25,000 rounds through it, give the FCU a tune-up, explain what they did in detail, and have it back to you in 7 business days. The P365 changed the concealed carry market forever. They’ve done more than any other company in the world to move firearms technology forward. You should be the one apologizing to Sig, unless you can name the people that have been casualties from their irresponsibility
